Hewlett Packard model 8640B (option 323) signal generator
The units are very similar in specifications to the commercial version of the 8640B. The correct nomenclature of these units is AN/USM-323, or 8640B, option 323. The front panel is black, and slightly oversized compared to the commercial unit. Each has a protective metal or fiberglass case. This case is very rugged, and includes a gasketed lid. It is so well sealed that it may be pressurized. The case is also rugged enough to ship UPS without any over-packaging, but will be over-packaged regardless. The power cord is built in on these units. Other differences: The AN/USM-323 does not have a 7th counter digit, x10 or x100 expand, external input for its counter, and external phase lock switch....this unit locks automatically. The commercial unit does not have the protective case. Both the commercial unit and these units are capable of an upper frequency limit of 1024 mhz with the appropriate optional doubler, which he does not have. These units do not include manuals. They do not include any other optional accessories not mentioned. Power requirements: 103-127/207-242 vac, 48-440 hz. The cases are mostly the original yellow in color. Some have been painted olive-drab over the original yellow. Naturally, this protective case will have some paint scratches, decals, etc. We did not notice any dents. The front panels of the units are in very good shape, as they are very well protected by this case. If you wish, the unit may be removed from the protective case. The only major difference then between this unit and the commercial unit in appearance is the front panel, which again, is black and slightly larger to accommodate the case. Specs: These units cover 0.5 to 512 Mhz. All solid state, offering a level output range of +19 to -144 dBm (2v to 0.01 microvolts). This output is calibrated, metered, and leveled to within + or - 0.5 dB across the full frequency range of the instrument. It also provides AM, FM, and pulse modulation for a wide range of receiver test applications. Internal modulation is available in three fixed steps of 400 hz, 1 khz, and 5 khz. Pulse: 0.05 - 5 khz. This modulation is calibrated and metered for direct readout under all operating conditions. Also allows modulation with another signal from an outside source. An internal 6-digit counter displays the output frequency. Resolution: To 10 hz (.5 to 4 Mhz.), 100 Hz (4-64 Mhz), 1 khz (64-512 Mhz.) We would encourage you to read and compare other sellers' ads for both the commercial and military versions of this counter. It will become very obvious that this is a great price. The seller will offer a 30 day guarantee, covering anything except damage due to misuse. Buyer pays $20 packaging, plus insurance (at $1.05), plus actual UPS charges, or these costs may be avoided if picking up in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Shipping weight is 70 pounds. Furnish your zip code for a quote on shipping. Payment by check or money order, (sorry, no credit cards) in the amount of $395 plus $20 packaging plus $1.05 insurance plus quoted UPS shipping. If you wish to order and supply your zip code for an exact UPS quote, you will be given the direct contact information for the seller and all information necessary to order, including payment information. Please DO NOT make checks payable to me or to my company, Max-Gain Systems, Inc. TO ORDER, GO TO INQUIRY FORM
The commercial version also features a frequency lock loop for greater stability. Its frequency counter can be used independently of the generator. (It has an external input). Also, The number of counter digits displayed after the decimal point can be changed for a greater precision of display. These commercial units measure 5 inches high, 17 inches wide, and 18.5 inches deep, and weigh 65 pounds. He is selling these commercial version HP 8640B units at $495 each, checked and with the same 30 day unconditional guarantee, covering anything except damage due to misuse. Buyer pays all shipping. PLEASE NOTE! A very few of these units with "option 002" which doubles the frequency range to 1.2 Ghz are available, with the same guarantee, at $795 each. He would encourage you to read and compare other sellers' ads for both the commercial and military versions of this counter. It will become very obvious that this is a great price. Buyer pays $20 packaging, plus insurance (at $2.80), plus actual UPS charges, or these costs may be avoided if picking up in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Shipping weight is 70 pounds. Our president and owner, Allen Bond, has many items available for the very popular Racal RA6790/GM HF receivers. (Sorry, currently no complete units available for sale.) The photo on the left illustrates the RA6790/GM. These receivers are truly one of the finest available. They were made for high-end military and commercial use, and are fully microprocessor controlled. Frequency coverage is 0.5 to 29.999999 Mhz in as little as 1 Hz increments! This receiver offers AM, FM, CW, LSB, and USB, and is also capable of ISB with an optional ISB board, which we do not have available. Also, we do NOT have the RF amplifier for this radio.
The receiver features two touch keypads and two LCD di splays, showing EIGHT digit frequency and 3 digit BFO relative to 455 Khz IF. Has built in self test and sockets for SEVEN bandwidth filters! Five filters are supplied with this receiver: 400 Hz CW, 1.2 Khz, 3.24 Khz. bipolar, symmetrical filter, (which is used for both USB and LSB), 6.8 Khz AM, and 16.0 Khz wide AM/FM. The receiver programs for a wide variety of performance configurations. 50 ohm antenna input, 600 ohm audio output. Very advanced and very complex. Not for the average "knob twister", but designed for the advanced user and/or technologically adept. Items currently available include:
Some specs: Frequency stability: Plus or minus 5 parts in the 10 to the 8th per 10 degree C temperature increment over the range of 0 degrees C to 50 degrees C using internal 5MHZ reference oscillator.
Payment should be to me personally, Allen Bond, and NOT to my company, Max-Gain Systems, Inc. TO ORDER, GO TO INQUIRY FORM |
