Types: There are many different types (or series) of coax adapters and each is designed for a specific purpose and application. Frequency, power, and impedance ratings often vary between these types.

Gender: Most coax adapters are male-female gender; however, some coax adapters are unisex such as the HP 7mm, Amphenol APC-7, and General Radio GR874 or GR900.

Frequency: The frequency range of any coax adapter is limited by the opposing side of the adapter. For instance, if one end of an adapter has a SMA configuration (~18GHz), and the other end has is BNC (~4GHz), then the adapter must be de-rated to the maximum frequency of the side with the lowest frequency rating. Therefore, in this example the SMA to BNC adapter will have a maximum frequency rating of 4GHz.  Use the tables below to see which types may be most suitable for your use.

Teflon Dielectric PL-259

MGS is proud to offer these brand new, solid brass body, heavily silver plated, teflon dielectric PL-259 (type UHF male) connectors for sale, as well as silver plated type UG-175 and UG-176 adapters.  They are of excellent quality. We have used these ourselves for years, and find that they take solder beautifully, and the teflon will withstand very high temperatures with no problem. The photo shows several of the PL-259's in various orientations. On the lower left are four of the silver plated UG-175/U size reducing adapters (fits RG-58 coax). On the lower right are four of the silver plated UG-176/U size reducing adapters (fits RG-59 and RG-8X coax). No adapter/reducer is necessary if using RG-8 coax or LMR-400. A US quarter dollar coin is included for size reference.
