This capacitor is the Comet (a very respected manufacturer of vacuum capacitors, based in Switzerland) type CV1C-60 E/10 ceramic vacuum variable. Photo shows the Comet CV1C-60 E/10 with US dollar bill for scale. Rated at 10-60 pf., 43 amps continuous RMS at 13.56 mhz, 10 kv peak. Measures 72 mm diameter, and 150 mm long, overall. Weight is 1.1 kg. (2.42 pounds) These caps tune very smoothly, with very fine threaded shafts, requiring about 20 turns for full tuning range. The shaft is "stepped down", with diameters of approximately 1/4" and 3/8". With drilled and tapped holes on both front and rear shoulders for easy mounting. No flanges needed. Dimensions are 3.25 inches long (82.6 mm), 1.625 inches diameter (41.3 mm). Weight is 4.5 ounces. These capacitors feature very high-resolution tuning, and require 45 turns for tuning full range. (Almost like having a built-in vernier drive!) This feature also makes remote tuning applications far less "touchy" to properly adjust. Mounts on a panel with a single 1/4inch diameter hole. Lock washer and nut supplied for shaft end panel mount. Shaft is 1/2 inch long, and is of .165 inch diameter. May be adjusted with an appropriate knob, or with a small screwdriver (end of shaft is slotted for easy screwdriver adjustment.) Easy to turn, with maximum 4 inch-pounds torque required. November 1, 2000, SAN JOSE; Jennings is pleased to announce the development of our C/GCS-100 capacitor. The new model is custom designed to replace the glass version GCS-100. The new C/GCS-100 was created to alleviate the glass unit shortage, providing the same electrical features but encased in ceramic envelope. The ceramic housing allows for higher electrical currents, as well as a more robust construction. As always, Jennings guarantees the highest quality products, allowing for maximum reliability. This capacitor is a direct replacement for the Jennings type CHV1-200-7. Same style, size, and ratings. It is heavily silver plated, with thin protective plastic coating over the ceramic section, making it extremely rugged. Rated 10-205 pf at 7.5 kv working. (They typically over-travel a little to around 8-235 pf .) We have hipot tested these, and they consistently hipot test much higher (as much as 13 kv) at the maximum rated capacitance of 205 pf, and EXTREMELY high at the low ranges of capacitance...some 20 kv plus! These capacitors have 6 drilled and tapped holes both front and rear for easy mounting. Diameter is 3 inches maximum, and length is 5.5 inches flange-to-flange, and 7 inches tip-to-tip including shaft, which is 1/4 inch diameter. Weight is 4 pounds. We do not have maximum published current specs, as Energy Labs is no longer in business (anyone out there have an old Energy Labs product catalog??) but max current is estimated at 50 amps. "Out of spec" and "budget" capacitors: If you want the quality and performance of vacuum capacitors, but the budget just won't allow it, (or if you are just looking to save some money) we frequently have "out of spec" capacitors . These capacitors do not meet the specifications for the particular model . This can happen because of many reasons, but they are still perfectly usable in other capacitance ranges or maximum voltages . For instance, we might have a type that is listed at 15 kv, but tests good to 12 kv . In this case, we will not sell it to a user who needs 15 kv ratings, but if you need only 5 kv, 7 . 5 kv, or 10 kv, this capacitor would do nicely . If you want us to check our "out of spec" shelves for current stock, just tell us your capacitance range and voltage requirements (and current rating if you know it . . . or approximate power level) and we will let you know what we have available at steep discounts!
