Jennings type CSVF-500 - 0315
This capacitor is the Comet (precision manufactured in Switzerland) equivalent type to the Jennings type CSVF-500-0315 shown above, and has similar ratings of 12-500 pf, 15 kv peak. (For detailed ratings, see above.) Furnished with type FM-2 front flange mount. Shaft is same diameter as the CSVF-500-0315, but is approximately 1/4 inch longer. The new format Comet part number for this unit is CMV1-500BC/15-BEDA-BL. Maximum diameter is 88 mm, overall length is 194 mm. Weight is 1.6 kg, (4.31 pounds). Part of Comet's "Midi-Con" series, designed for general applications requiring widest tuning range. With 1/4 inch OD shaft, with slotted end. Has six drilled and tapped holes on front shoulder for mounting. Rear has permanently mounted flange with six drilled and tapped holes. No further mounting hardware necessary. These are the glass version of the newer ceramic CSVF-500, shown elsewhere on this page. Many builders like the look of the clear glass envelope, which allows a view of the interior plates. The UCSF-500-10N528 and the UCSF-500-15D912 are pictured. Electrical ratings are 12-500 pf, and 10 kv peak voltage for the "-10N" and 15 kv peak voltage for the "-15D". Maximum rated current is 55 amps RMS continuous. They are physically the same, measuring 3.6 inches maximum diameter (90.68 mm), and 7.7 inches long (195.33 mm)overall. Weight is 2 pounds, 2 ounces. "Out of spec" and "budget" capacitors: If you want the quality and performance of vacuum capacitors, but the budget just won't allow it, (or if you are just looking to save some money) we frequently have "out of spec" capacitors . These capacitors do not meet the specifications for the particular model . This can happen because of many reasons, but they are still perfectly usable in other capacitance ranges or maximum voltages . For instance, we might have a type that is listed at 15 kv, but tests good to 12 kv . In this case, we will not sell it to a user who needs 15 kv ratings, but if you need only 5 kv, 7 . 5 kv, or 10 kv, this capacitor would do nicely . If you want us to check our "out of spec" shelves for current stock, just tell us your capacitance range and voltage requirements (and current rating if you know it . . . or approximate power level) and we will let you know what we have available at steep discounts! This capacitor is the 15 kv rated version of the Jennings type CSVF-500 / UCSF 500 0107 (shown above). Rated 12-500 pf, 15 kv peak, the CSVF-500-0315 is furnished with a Jennings silver-plated type FM-2 front flange mount, as pictured. Maximum allowable current is 65 amps at approximately 3.5 Mhz.
